overview
Kosovo Chronicles explores the country's history through geography. Visitors move across more than 120 mapped sites spanning Dardanian, Roman, Byzantine, medieval, Ottoman, Yugoslav, wartime, and contemporary Kosovo contexts.
problem
Historical information about Kosovo is fragmented across languages, archives, tourism pages, and politically charged summaries. A public learning experience needs to remain engaging while being careful about sourcing, geographic accuracy, names, and contested narratives.
approach
I combined an interactive MapLibre atlas with a bounded landmark catalog, country-border validation, multilingual presentation, image and panorama experiences, guided cinematic tours, and AI tools instructed to anchor answers in mapped places and prefer uncertainty over unsupported claims.
outcome
The result is a rich public archive with search, eras, landmarks, an AI historian, landmark recognition, road trips, autonomous tours, quizzes, personal notes, and professional field-trip plans for schools and diaspora visitors.
